I have had a lifetime's interest in horses and rode when growing up, but as I became older, driving horses in harness was something that interested me greatly. Therefore, that was it; away I went and learnt to drive.

I drove for pleasure for years but could see an opening as a professional coachman, which was a long route. In the meanwhile, I trained horses to harness which is part of learning your profession.

I have worked for museums as a professional coachman, shown shires horses in harness, at shows and even cared for retired pit ponies.

Our horses at Parkhouse Carriages are Gelderlanders bred for harness work, they are above 16hh high and are very bold. Gelderlanders have excellent temperaments and love being made a fuss of.
